Write for Rights 2017

Every December 10th is International Human Rights Day. There are a group of people defending human rights, but it is not enough to depend on them. Therefore, we joined Amnesty International to help them with writing postcards.

Xulhaz Mannan founded the only magazine named "Roophbaan" about LGBTIQ issue in Bangladesh, but he and his colleagues were cruelly killed in front of Xulhaz Mannan's mom in their apartment on April 25 2016. Therefore, I wrote the postcard to their Home Minister in order to ask them to investigate the murders immediately.

Sakris Kupila, a transgender in Finland. When he realized that the gender he was given at birth doesn’t express who he is.Since then, he has faced many challenges in Finland. First, he needed to be diagnosed with amental disorder” in order to change his name to one that he felt better matched his identity. Then he learned that in order to have his gender legally recognized, he would also need to be sterilized. I wrote to the Prime Minister of Finland to change the law in Finland and let people register the gender they identify themselves.

In Jamaica, The power of polices is so formidable. Shackelia Jackson's brother was mistaken as a suspect and killed by the police, and Shackelia Jackson stood out to protect her brother and other families. I only help them with this postcard and urge the Prime Minister of Jamaica to protect Shackelia and other families from harassment and reform the justice system and stop the police killings.

"One minute your loved one is there. The next, they’re gone. ‘Disappeared’ as if they never
existed. This nightmare is a reality for Hanan, who last saw her husband on the news, injured after
attending a protest in Egypt 2013". In Egypt, a man is gone without any reasons, and his wife is so concerned about him. There is a woman named Hanan Badr el-Din rushed to look for her busband but be arrested. Hence, I hope the president of Egypt to release Hanan Badr el-Din at once, and also, drop all the charges against Hanan!

Females' statuses in some countries or places are not as equal as males'. They often suffer torture, arbitrary detention, domestic abuse, and rape. There is a woman named Azza Soliman standing out to protect females' rights but be arrested by Egyptian government several times. Consequently, I call on their president to drop all the charges against Azza Soliman and drop Case 173 immediately!
